In the summer of 1999 I enrolled in the Florida College of Natural Health, at the time located in Altamonte Springs. I graduated with honors and earned the right to sit for the National Certification Exam. On August 24, 2000, I passed the exam and became a Licensed Massage Therapist.
A year into my career I began facing some physical challenges. Neck, back and shoulder pain rendered me unable to do my work. I began exploring the concepts around ‘thoughts create things’. Acupuncture and chiropractic treatment helped immensely but the injury returned.
My physical healing started once I began studying yoga. When I began a meditation practice, I discovered the very real benefits of aiming and sustaining attention. Retreats are a regular part of my self-care and have helped my hands-on practice immensely.
My professional experience:
The State of Florida mandates that to uphold licensure, every two years a massage therapist must complete classwork in: medical errors, professional ethics, laws and rules for Florida LMT’s, 6 hours of general coursework and 12 hours of live classwork in an elective course related to massage therapy.
My continuing education has included coursework in treating carpal tunnel syndrome, chair massage, manual lymphatic drainage, psychology and physiology of health, reflexology, Reiki, Qi Gong, pregnancy massage, and more.
It is a privilege and pleasure to be of good service! I look forward to helping you.
